One of her most well-known paintings, Jimson Weed, White Flower No.1 is a bold composition of an enlarged white flower with green leaves, intended to encourage busy city dwellers to pay attention to the beauty within the natural world that they may not ordinarily stop to appreciate. O’Keeffe explained that she’d paint her flower paintings so big that ‘I will make even busy New Yorkers take time to see what I see of flowers’.
