Andy Tuohy, based in the Kent coastal town of Folkestone, produces contemporary artworks rooted in classic 20th century illustration and design.

Having studied and worked in Liverpool in the 1980¨s Andy was delighted to have the opportunity to return to the city, to work on a range for Tate.

The basis for the range is an A-Z of Liverpool and Merseyside, which was a real labour of love for Andy. There have been many changes over the last few years in Liverpool so Andy had to incorporate some of the more traditional landmarks, such as the Liver Birds, ferry and docklands, with more recent additions such as the shopping centre Liverpool ONE, the ubiquitous Superlambanana and the beautifully carved Chinese Arch. The A to Z also includes some lesser known nuggets of information such as the fact that Meccano originated in Liverpool and that Everton F.C.s nickname is derived from Everton Mints with their chewy toffee centres.

'Faa Iheihe' was painted in Tahiti, where Gauguin spent his last years. It seems to represent an earthly paradise of men and women in harmony with nature. Indeed, it has sometimes been subtitled 'Tahitian Pastoral'. Gauguin found great inspiration in Tahiti, and wrote in 1898, 'Each day - my latest important paintings attest to this - I realise that I have not yet said all there is to say here in Tahiti ... whereas in France, with all the disgust I feel there, my brain would probably be sterile; the cold freezes me both physically and mentally, and everything becomes ugly to my eyes.' 'Faa Iheihe' may mean in Tahitian 'to beautify'.

Designed exclusively for Tate by Lisa Stickley, an emerging British designer, this knitting bag is made using her 'mountains' print which takes a hand drawn abstract repeated to represent a fresh and inspiring mountain landscape. The knitting bag itself is beautifully made in 100% cotton with matte waterproof coating with pale blue zip, cream cotton trim and a pretty striped cotton lining. The size and shape fits in knitting needles and long brushes perfectly, but it can also be used as a quirky day bag. Each side of the roomy bag shows the print in reverse- cream on black and black on cream.
