Sir Nathaniel Bacon (1585-1627) was a seventeenth-century British gentleman painter whose significance as an experimenter and innovator in artistic practice is only just begining to receive due recognition. He was also a keen gardener. Sadly, there are fewer than twelve known surviving works by Bacon, one of which is the immense painting in the Tate Collection, Cookmaid with Still Life of Vegetables and Fruit. Illustrations in this survey include a selection of surviving Bacon manuscripts, books by his friends and imported Chinese porcelain, in addition to his ''Cookmaid'' paintings and self-portraits.Written by Tate curator Karen Hearn who has been researching the author''s life, work and circle for many years, Nathaniel Bacon is the first book to focus on this significant but previously little known artist.

Delivery times

We aim to deliver shop products within:

Limited editions

Due to the nature of our Limited Edition artworks, Tate offers rates for packaging materials to sufficiently protect the works and a fully insured, door-to-door courier service, for both UK and international shipping.

USA & Canada – £80 each
European Union – £120 each
Rest of world (including non-EU European countries) – £150 each
 
 

Rugs

Rugs are dispatched directly from the Christopher Farr workshop, so they will arrive separately from any other items ordered from Tate Shop.

Goldfinger + Tate furniture

As each item of furniture is made to order, delivery takes 12-14 weeks, and will arrive separately to any other items in your Tate Shop order.

UK – £150 per order using a specialist white-glove delivery service. An access check can be arranged for £80.
 

Food & Wine

Our collection of food and wine is only available for delivery in the UK. We currently offer free delivery on wine orders over £100, using a specialist white glove service within the M25 area.

Wine: UK only – £20 per order

Please note that our wines can only be purchased by those aged 18 years and over. Customers will be asked to provide proof of age upon delivery.

Refunds & returns

Please contact our customer service team within 45 days if you need to return anything from your order. We will be happy to offer you a full refund, replacement or exchange on any items excluding custom prints, Goldfinger + Tate furniture, face coverings and pierced earrings. We cannot cover the cost of returning the items, unless we've made a mistake or they are faulty.
