Fine bone china dinner plate impressed with gilded gold fingerprints. The plate was originally created by Richard Wentworth for a 1999 Tate exhibition titled ‘At Home With Art’ which featured nine contemporary artists including Antony Gormley and Anish Kapoor. The show brought together work by each artist that was created specifically for use in the home.

As Wentworth describes, ‘Of all the mysteries which humans share, touch, taste, and smell are our best friends. The manner with which we embrace them defines us.’

Richard Wentworth CBE (born 1947) is a British artist, curator and teacher. He has played a leading role in New British Sculpture since the end of the 1970s. His work, encircling the notion of objects and their use as part of our day- to-day experiences, has altered the traditional definition of sculpture as well as photography.
