Edward Bawden was an English printmaker, graphic designer, illustrator and painter who studied at the School of Art in Cambridge and at the Design School of the Royal College of Art, where he was a contemporary of Eric Ravilious. During World War II he served as an Official War Artist in the British Army, travelling to Belgium, France and the Middle East. His later work, particularly as a graphic designer, is notable for its simplicity of line and its wit. He became well-known for his linocuts, among them Six London Markets,1967 of which this image is an example.
Measures 24 x 30 cm paper size, 17 x 23 image size and 30 x 35.5cm rough frame size. Made in England. Radita pine frame with a painted finish.
