This vibrant and dynamic print was created in Bayer’s later life. It conveys a sense of excitement and celebration: using squares and circles to create a sense of movement, it exploits the tension between form and colour. By using diametrically opposed colours, the composition appears to vibrate with controlled energy.

Herbert Bayer was a graphic designer, painter, sculptor and architect closely associated with the Bauhaus. Born in 1900 in Linz, Austria, he moved to Weimar in Germany to study at the Bauhaus under Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee and László Moholy-Nagy, later becoming director of printing and advertising at the school. After leaving to become art director of Berlin Vogue, he emigrated to America in 1938 where he designed and curated two Bauhaus exhibitions. His work became more varied during this period, including architecture projects, typographic design, large scale sculpture and creative consultancy.

As each print is handmade to order they take a little longer to prepare. We’ll dispatch your order as soon as it is ready, separately from any other items.
