Francis Bacon was born to an English family in Dublin on 28 October 1909. Although he received little formal artistic training in his early years, he is thought to be one of the greatest painters since J.M.W. Turner. His large back catalogue of works includes themes of entrapment, sexual encounter and death as well as ‘lighter’ paintings of animals and sphinxes. He is perhaps best known for his triptychs such as his series of Black Triptychs painted following his lover George Dyer’s death in 1971.

Dimensions: 30 x 30 x 30 cm. 12 pages, 12 illustrations.
