Mr Benn is an ordinary man who has extraordinary adventures. In this, the first ever Mr Benn story, he swaps his bowler hat and black suit for a red suit of armour and makes friends with a dragon.
First published in 1967, Mr Benn - Red Knight is one of a series of stories by author and illustrator David McKee that inspired the legendary Mr Benn TV series. McKee's original artwork brings the glories of a golden age of children's book illustration and story-telling to a new generation.
David McKee is the author and illustrator of over 100 children's books and the creator of several memorable characters besides Mr Benn, including Elmer the Patchwork Elephant and King Rollo.
Suitable for ages 5+
The intricate artwork is full of fascinating detail and the black and white illustrations make a fascinating foil for the 3D colour pictures ... it's great to see these delightful stories brought back for a new generation.
Parents in Touch
McKee’s iconic 1960’s artwork alternates pen-and-ink line drawings with richly colored, multilayered tone-on-tone illustrations. The conversational narrative serves as a lovely counterpoint to the fantastical story
