This 1937 exhibition to mark the centenary of the death of John Constable brought together over 150 of his works including 50 oils and 71 watercolours. Among the works included were Brighton Chain Pier exh 1827 The Haywain exh 1821, Flatford Mill 1817, East Bergholt Mill exh 1897 and The Opening of Waterloo Bridge by George IV in the Year 1817. Over its seven week duration the exhibition attracted over 22,000 visitors.
