Porcelain espresso cup and saucer based on Damien Hirst's artwork The Incomplete Truth - a dove preserved in formaldehyde. The distorted anamorphic image printed on the saucer reflects in the plain metallic espresso cup to create an image of the dove.
Originally created for Hirst's show at Tate Modern in 2012. Damien Hirst is the most prominent artist to have emerged from the British art scene in the 1990s. His role as an artist and curator has proved fundamental in the development of the group that became internationally known as ‘the YBAs’ (Young British Artists). Hirst’s work asks viewers to question the main dilemmas of human existence: birth, illness, death and religion.
Cup measures 5cm diameter and saucer 12cm diameter.
Not safe for use in a dishwasher or microwave.
Recieved this item today with another 2 of Damien Hirst cups. Arrived safe as well packaged. Ideal for espresso drinks. It's delicate, the mirrored cup captures the design of the saucer perfectly. In my view worth the money, will buy the others to complete the collection as very happy with both the service from Tate and the beautiful designs available.
