Large poster of David Hockney’s The Road to Thwing 2006. Our posters feature selected works from exhibitions on a large scale. They’re Giclée printed on fine art paper to ensure a high quality reproduction.
After his return to England in 2005, David Hockney began to paint the East Yorkshire landscape, whose sense of open space he likened to the western US. For many of the pieces, he returned to the same spot over and again during the different seasons of the year. Hockney said that part of the aim of these projects was to ’stand in the landscape you love, try and depict your feelings of space, and forget photographic vision, which is distracting us too much from the physical world’. This version of The Road to Thwing, a large multi-canvas oil painting, was painted in July, and depicts a bright summer scene rich in yellow and orange.
