Tate Sara Fanelli porcelain tea light holder
This tealight holder has been designed by Sara Fanelli and manufactured by hand at Weimar Porcelain in Germany, who were founded in 1790. The fusion of Sara's contemporary design with this traditional 200 year old production method creates a truly beautiful and unique product.
The tealight holder is made of delicate bisque porcelain. When lit, the candle creates a soft light effect which illuminates the transparent design on the porcelain. Used inside to create mood lighting, or outside to create a warm glow on a summer's evening, this tea light holder is a stunning household accessory.
Quotation reads 'The truth is rarely pure and never simple'.
Artist and illustrator Sara Fanelli is one of the world's foremost illustrators, renowned for her experimental techniques. She is the winner of the 2008 Design & Art Direction award for outstanding achievement in illustration and book design for the Tate published book 'Sometimes I think Sometimes I am'. She was one of the youngest designers to join the AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale) and she is the first woman illustrator to be elected Honorary Fellow of the Royal; Designers for Industry (RDI).
Her inspiration lies not only in the visual arts but also in literature and the theatre. Fanelli takes quotations and aphorisms that inspire her work, from Dante and Goethe to Calvino and Beckett, and places them in the context of a completely original artistic creation using a mixture of collages, typography paintings and drawings.
Includes tea light candle and manufacturer's certificate of authenticity.
