Description
Tate exclusive mini print of Francis Bacon’s Seated Figure , 1961.

Bacon’s portraits are an exploration of the human condition, particularly in the case of Seated Figure as the identity of the sitter is not disclosed. Confined within a box-like frame, the sitter is symbolically confined and isolated, a common psychological theme explored by Bacon.

Francis Bacon was born to an English family in Dublin on 28 October 1909. Although he received little formal artistic training in his early years, he is perceived to be one of the greatest painters since JMW Turner. His extensive back catalogue of works include themes of entrapment, sexual encounter and the haunting of death as well as ‘lighter’ paintings of animals and sphinxes.

Our mini prints feature a white border and the image title. Printed and produced in the UK.
