This is a Tate exclusive print depicting one of O’Keeffe’s abstract paintings as part of the Georgia O'Keeffe exhibition at Tate Modern.
Blue and Green Music is inspired by the ideas of the European modernist movement, such as Kandinsky’s theories on how visual art can or should be pure patterns of form, colour and line as opposed to representing the material world.
O’Keeffe was born in 1887 in Wisconsin, USA and became recognised immediately as a leading artist from her debut exhibition in 1916. She has since become an American icon of twentieth century art, best known for her paintings of flowers, animal skulls and New Mexico landscapes.
Printed on 300gsm fine art paper. 30 x 40 cm including a white border around the image.
