This exclusive exhibition print has been produced for Tate’s Georgia O’Keeffe exhibition at Tate Modern. It depicts an antlered deer skull in the foreground, with the mountain Pedernal in the background, which was visible from the front door of O’Keeffe’s Ghost Ranch house in New Mexico.
O’Keeffe was born in Wisconsin, USA in 1887 and lived in New York during the 1920s and 1930s. She first visited New Mexico in 1929, where she found constant inspiration for her paintings in the New Mexico landscape and moved there permanently in 1949. She often found animal skulls on the ground of the desert terrain there and picked them up to use as subjects in her paintings.
Printed on 300gsm fine art paper. 30 x 40 cm including a white border around the image.
