Affected by the Pop aesthetic Patrick Caulfield though his choice of subjects, stylized landscapes interiors and ruins drew much of his inspiration from European artists such as Gris, Leger, Matisse and Mondrian. The exhibition consisted of 48 of his paintings selected by the artist to provide an opportunity to consider a large group of his works together. The exhibition poster was designed by Patrick Caulfield as too was the catalogue cover and he also took charge of the exhibition’s thematic hang.
