The limited edition untitled: catch 4, 2016
was created as part of a series of five intricate sculptures by Phyllida Barlow in support of Tate. Each work is accompanied by a signed and numbered certificate.
The series of five ambiguous forms were made by the artist in her London studio using a diverse range of materials, offering her a rare opportunity to create work on a more intimate scale without the assistance of her team.

For over four decades Phyllida Barlow, born 1944, has made imposing, large scale sculptural installations using inexpensive, everyday materials such as cardboard, fabric, timber, polystyrene, plaster, scrim and cement. Her distinctive work is focused on her experimentation with these materials, to create bold and colourful three- dimensional collages that often contrast with the permanence and traditions of monumental sculpture.
Barlow transforms these DIY materials through processes of layering or accumulation to make large-scale sculptural installations. Cutting, sawing, breaking, coiling, folding or covering, Barlow has been fascinated by the physical experience of handling materials since the late 1960s. Her sculptures and installations often seem to interrupt or invade the space around them.
