Poster of David Hockney’s Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures). Our posters feature selected works from exhibitions on a large scale. They’re Giclée printed on fine art paper to ensure a high quality reproduction.
David Hockney is an artist who has frequently changed his style and ways of working, embracing new technologies as he goes. His move to Los Angeles in 1963 signalled a notable change in his approach, switching from oil to acrylic paints, and applying them as a smooth surface of flat and brilliant colour that helped to emphasise the pre-eminence of the image. The LA paintings evoke a glamorous and exotic picture of sun, wealth and leisure, and as with many of his paintings from this period, Portrait of an Artist (Pool with Two Figures)deals with the challenges of representing water, reflection and perspective.
Dimensions: 50 x 70 cm. Printed on 300gsm Purcell Ultrasmooth Fine Art paper in the UK.
