Reproduced from vintage Tate exhibition posters from our archives, these high quality prints showcase the gallery’s unique history and are available exclusively from Tate Online Shop. Includes a white border.
Drawing on the Tate Gallery's own collection returning from places of safety, this exhibition ran from 30 Aug 1945 - Oct 1945. As the Tate Gallery had been closed in 1939 for the duration of the war when the building sustained substantial bomb damage the exhibition was hosted by the National Gallery. The Tate Gallery did not open its doors to the public again until 1946 and it was not until 1948 that it was once more completely open.
