Signed poster of Birth Hood by artist, author, educator and feminist Judy Chicago. The piece of work Birth Hood is painted on a car hood part of a trio of works along with Birth Hood and Flight Hood. The car hood is traditionally machismo and represents the challenges Chicago faced in the art world.
Born in 1939 in Chicago, Judy Chicago changed her name in favour of her birth place to represent a rejection of the notion that women must take a father's or husband's name. She uses many different medias in her work including needlework and china painting.
