A juicy and bright honey process coffee, grown by a single producer in Guatemala. Recommended for filter.
Flavour notes: Grapes, berries and fig
Producer: The Bressani Family
Location: Atitlán, Guatemala
Size: 1 kg
The Bressani family are exemplary in their whole-hearted commitment to the environment as well as their business. While 40% of their farm is coffee, a remaining 40% remains as natural forest, 10% is pasture for dairy cattle and 10% of the farm hosts diverse projects such as a small cheese making plant, beehives, a renewable hydroelectric energy generator and an internal composting area. They are constantly adjusting and listening to what nature tells them and adapting accordingly.
Keep your coffee sealed in the bag and store in a cool dry place away from sunlight. Use within 3 months.
Tate Collective's Open Call invited 16-25 year olds to create artworks for our coffee labels. Each entry was inspired by Coffee by Tate's values of quality, community and gender equality. This label, Senses, was designed by Emma Olivia Buzzard.
About our producers
The Bressani family farm of San Jeronimo Miramar lies on the slopes surrounding the volcanic lake Atitlán. The coffee farm itself is surrounded by Eucalyptus and Magnolia tree to protect the farm from lake winds, and taller shade producing Guarumo and Gadu trees protect the coffee plants from sun, with a range of tropical fruit trees as well as peppercorn, avocado and peach trees helping to enrich the soil. This fertile terrain and high altitude provides a fantastic parameter for coffee producers.
Grandfather Bressani brought the farm in the 1940s, starting with a small number of dairy cows selling milk to the local market. In the 1950s when the US government donated powdered milk to Guatemala all the dairy farms went out of business overnight. Fortunately, due to Mr Bressani’s Italian origins, his cousin knew how to make cheese. This resourcefulness enabled them to get going and subsequently build up their dairy and coffee activities. They now employ local families and have added a cupping lab and a processing mill within the farm.
