Like many of her early works this still life was created using oil paint on canvas. Goncharova exhibited over 800 works at her first retrospective which took place in 1913 at the Art Salon on Bolshaya Dmitrovka Street, Moscow.

Natalia Goncharova (1881-1962) was a Russian artist who blazed a trail with her experimental approach to art and design. She found acclaim early in her career and established herself as the leader of the Russian avant-garde with a major exhibition in Moscow in 1913. Her immense body of work includes costume design, avant-garde cinema and vast religious paintings.
