About the artist:
Lisa Milroy is a Canadian-British artist best known for her still life paintings of everyday domestic objects, meticulously arranged into formal, grid- like compositions. Much of her work has focused on commonplace objects, beginning with the small scale still lifes she produced for her first solo exhibition in 1984 and continuing throughout her career. Though her paintings relate to figurative objects, they are sometimes categorized as abstract works, with the objects themselves used simply as compositional elements. Several of her paintings form part of Tate’s collection.
