A bottle of Mama Lolly’s homemade hot sauce in original red flavour. With scotch bonnet peppers, garlic and spices, it’ll add a fiery kick to your cooking. Mix it with crème fraiche or mayo for a great marinade or dip, or splash it on straight for a dose of heat and flavour. A warning from the Mama Lolly’s team themselves: it’s very hot.

This hot sauce is available as part of our collection celebrating Tate Britain’s Life Between Islands: Caribbean-British Art 1950s – Now exhibition. Mama Lolly’s granddaughter, Donna, has created her collection of homemade hot sauces using her family recipes handed down over the generations. In London and Antigua, Donna and her mum have made and used these sauces in their own restaurants, and now share them under Mama Lolly’s name as a tribute to her. In Donna’s own words:

‘Our sauces are inspired by many of the elements that make up our Caribbean way of life – diversity, colours, flavours, sunshine, and the islands’ community spirit. And so, in honour of the legacy of my grandmother’s love for her family, her culture, and her food, this is our mission to share the essence of her warmth, enthusiasm and vibrancy and Caribbean authenticity.’

The sauces are made by hand using traditional methods and natural, plant-based ingredients, without artificial additives, preservatives, thickeners or colours. The packaging is also eco-friendly and recyclable.

Ingredients: Scotch bonnet peppers, rapeseed oil, vinegar, water, onions, garlic, sea salt and spices. Please refrigerate after opening.

Limited editions

Due to the nature of our Limited Edition artworks, Tate offers rates for packaging materials to sufficiently protect the works and a fully insured, door-to-door courier service, for both UK and international shipping.

Rugs

Rugs are dispatched directly from the Christopher Farr workshop, so they will arrive separately from any other items ordered from Tate Shop.
