Flavour notes: Milk chocolate, toffee and apricot
Producer : Manassés Sampaio Dias
Location : Divinolândia, Mogiana, Brazil
Process : Natural
Variety : Red and Yellow Icatu
Size : 1 kg

This season marks our fourth year working with Manassés, after visiting his farm during a trip to Brazil in 2016. For this coffee, Manassés has chosen to cultivate for us a small lot of Icatu, a relatively young variety introduced into Brazil in 1993, known for its chocolate characteristics and citric cup profile.

Keep your coffee sealed in the bag and store in a cool dry place away from sunlight. Use within 3 months.

Tate Collective's Open Call invited 16-25 year olds to create artworks for our coffee labels. Each entry was inspired by Coffee by Tate's values of quality, community and gender equality. This label titled Senses was designed by Emma Olivia Buzzard.

About our producers

Sítio Três Barras is located in Divinolândia, a city in the east of Sâo Paulo state. The farm has belonged to Manassés’ family for at least 70 years – his grandfather José originally used the land to cultivate potatoes and peppers. After acquiring more land in the 1950s, José planted around three thousand coffee plants and the farm has been producing coffee ever since.

Manassés, who also teaches the saxophone at the local school, has been involved on the farm since he was a child. In 2001, he planted five thousand Yellow Icatu trees and five hundred Tupy trees to diversify the farm’s output. Through his dedication to agriculture, the farm became Fair Trade certified in 2012 and is continuing to produce some of the best coffee in the region.
