was commissioned to celebrate the opening of Tate Modern in May 2000. Ten prominent contemporary artists working with photography were invited to create an artwork inspired by and in response to the Bankside building, its development and its surroundings. This work is an edition of 50 and comprises of photographs taken from contrasting viewpoints through the wall of windows under the gallery's roof.

Uta Barth is a German photographer who currently lives in Los Angeles, California. Barth’s abstract, painterly images use cropping, focus and the changeable nature of passing moments to guide how we perceive her work. Barth emphasises these elements to draw attention to characteristics and limitations of the human eye.
