          Artist details

          Painter of landscape and still life in oil and watercolour, wood engraver and illustrator. Born 1893, he first worked as a journalist for a local paper but, encouraged by his brother Paul Nash and without academic training, turned to watercolour landscapes and comic drawings. First one-man show at the Goupil Gallery 1921. Inspired by landscapes and nature, he also printed from his wood engravings. Nash taught at the Ruskin School, Oxford and R.C.A.. Nash was given a major retrospective exhibition at the Royal Academy in 1967. Died 1977.
