Quirky and unique embossed metal wall plates designed by Australian artist and poet, Richard Tipping.
Each one is a minature version of his 'Roadsigned' series which he started in 1979 after boldly (and illegally) altering an "Airport" sign in Adelaide. Since then, his signs have grown immensely in popularity for their seeming simplicity and thought- provoking humour.
Here is what the artist has to say about his signs:
"These are poetic interventions in the public language of the street, interruptions to the expected, playing with the obvious to reach levels more metaphorical. By physically altering existing signage, and by inventing new signage using the standard design formats as a template, fresh meanings can be generated through surprise, making small shifts in the expected to create catalysts for thought."
