    Mark Hearld limited edition print

    £350.00

The centrepiece of the Mark Hearld for Tate range, a limited edition print celebrating Tate Britain and British Art, produced by the legendary Curwen Press.

Using Mark Hearld's original hand drawn lithograph, the printing process involved 5 separate plates, and uses 100% cotton 300gsm Somerset velvet paper.

Set up in 1863, The Curwen Press has a long-standing reputation for excellence in printing, encouraging artists to work directly on lithographic stones and plates, and helping to generate interest in the potential of lithography for mass production of original work. The Press started a design revolution in typography and illustration in the 1920s when it commissioned work from artists including Edward Bawden, Paul Nash and Eric Ravilious in an era which contributed dramatically to their lasting reputation. It now continues to be a hugely sympathetic and inspiring professional environment for experiments in printmaking. Many major artists have worked closely with the master printer Stanley Jones at the Curwen Studio, including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, John Piper, Ceri Richards, Alan Davie and Elizabeth Frink.

    Print measures 70.5 x 95.2cm

Available exclusively from Tate Online Shop and the Tate Britain shop, the Mark Hearld for Tate range was commissioned to celebrate the wealth of creative talent in the UK and to help promote and support British manufacturing and the specialist skills that go with it.

The range consists of a limited edition lithographic print printed by the renowned Curwen Press, ceramics produced by 150 year old pottery specialists Burleigh, as well as a greetings card set, a pigeon post letter, printed tote bag, embossed notebooks and a cushion cover. All items in the range are made in the UK to the highest standards and with close attention to detail.

    Glenn Brown limited edition print

    £350.00

Glenn Brown has designed this edition, especially published to accompany his major solo exhibition at Tate Liverpool. Brown borrows from art history and popular culture, working from the paintings and sculptures of Dal¡, Auerbach, Rembrandt, science fiction illustrators and many others to investigate the languages of painting and how images are read by the viewer.

Size, colour, surface texture and brushwork are elements by which original works are transformed from the familiar into the alien. Working from books or projecting reproductions onto a blank picture surface, Brown wildly embellishes his source material.

    £148.00

This has all the chromatic beauty and strength of line and form of Pasmore's most mature work. When he painted this he was living in Malta and one cannot help but wonder if the richness of the browns and blues are here not influenced by the colours of the earth and the water surrounding him.

Wood on the Downs limited edition print

    £225.00

Oil on canvas. Reduced: original size 71.1 x 91.4cm. Ivinghoe Beacon, north Buckinghamshire. It is late Spring, the trees are in leaf, the grass is green and the chalk of the downland reflects light from a milder sky. This is a particularly successful print. Nash often preferred to depict the autumnal English landscape with its muted and more sombre colours. Here, however, he is enthralled by lighter and fuller tones, tones more appropriate for the depiction of this burgeoning Spring-time copse.

    The Shore limited edition print

    £250.00

This is the shore at Dymchurch, Kent, where Nash moved with his wife in 1921. 'The Shore' depicts one of Nash's 'places'. What Nash portrays here is the struggle between Man and Nature, a struggle which, in perpetuity it would seem, neither are destined to win. There is a certain sadness: the wall stretches to a point beyond the horizon, and in this expanse the viewer remains unaccompanied except (it would seem) by the sounds of the waves distantly washing the sands below. But Nash finds a poignant beauty nevertheless - there are colours within this expanse, the beach reflects the sun, and the vast, water-drenched wall seems to shimmer in the muted light.

Drydocked for Painting limited edition print

    £138.00

    Woodcut 1918; original size: 22.2 x 20.3cm.

British merchantmen were camouflaged to deter the abilities of German u-boat gunners to ascertain their speed and course, but the action of the sea and salt of the Atlantic Ocean was so corrosive that they had to be re-painted every four to six months.

As per the description for the companion print Liverpool Shipping, this striking image is in some ways an inaccurate portrayal because dazzle was in fact applied in many colours. In these prints, however, Wadsworth reduces forms to their most essential, and replaces colour with a bold black and white. And by so doing Wadsworth creates two of the most optically powerful woodcut prints to derive from the First World War.

    Size: 32.00 x 35.00; paper 48 x 51.5cm

Palace of Westminster limited edition print

    £145.00

A limited edition print of Edward Bawden's Palace of Westminster (1966).

The original colour linocut was one in the series 'Nine London Monuments' commissioned by Editions Alecto in 1966. The Palace of Westminster (the dramatic building consisting of the two Houses of Parliament) was designed by Sir Charles Barry (1795-1860) and Augustus Welby Pugin (1812-52). Bawden perfectly captures the magnificence of the fa‡ade, and a lamp, perhaps symbolic of illumined debate, is centrally positioned within the print.

    Brighton Pier limited edition print

    £135.00

Colour linocut (1958 first edition). Unusually for Bawden a second edition of this print was done in 1970: the two are subtly different, particularly in colouring, but the word 'Palace' in the second is in white (and not black as it is here). The image is flanked on the one side by the frivolity of the domes of the Royal Pavilion, and on the other by the linearity of Charles Busby's late Regency architecture. The image, with its lights and fishing boats, captures perfectly what are enduring sides of both formal and informal Brighton. This print was awarded first prize in the Giles Bequest competition 1958 for colour prints from linoleum and wood.

The original coloured lithograph from linocut print formed one in the series 'Six London Markets', and was first published by Curwen Prints in 1967. The artwork depicts London's famous Covent Garden Flower Market with its neo-classical architecture in Bawden's distinctive style.

    £148.00

Dramatic limited edition print of Cyril Power's notable linocut The Merry-Go-Round (1931) originally printed from two colour blocks: Chinese Orange and Chrome Orange mixed, and Chinese Blue.

The geometry in this print delightfully spins the viewer around as much as it does the riders. Power found inspiration for these forms by a visit to Wembley Exhibition Fun Fair c.1930.

The Tube Station limited edition print

    £148.00

Beautiful limited edition print of Cyril Power's notable linocut The Tube Station (1932)

Originally printed from five blocks: Yellow Ochre, Spectrum Red, Permanent Blue, Viridian, and Chinese Blue, the artwork depicts Bank Road Tube Station, London. One of the most dynamic technological advances at the end of the nineteenth century had been the opening, between Paddington and Farringdon Street, of the world's first Underground. By the time this print was made in 1932 there were at least six kilometres of track, and the Underground was one of the most potent symbols of the new industrial age. Power was fascinated by the Underground, and he depicted various aspects: from stairs and cascading escalators, to, as here, the technologically advanced curves of the tunnels and electrical signage announcing arrival of the trains.

Whence and Whither limited edition print

    £148.00

Atmospheric limited edition print of Cyril Power's notable linocut Whence and Whither? (1930) originally printed from four blocks: Chinese Orange, Viridian, Permanent Blue and Dark Blue Printing Ink. Artwork depicts escalator at Tottenham Court Road Station, London. The Underground - a symbol of the new industrial age, is often portrayed by Power, and here rush-hour is depicted to great effect. It is perhaps no wonder that Power's first title for this print - as seen on some of the preparatory sketches for this work - was Cascade.

    Tube Train limited edition print

    £148.00

Power perfectly captures that sense of disengagement, almost an obligatory persona, adopted by all tube train travellers. Yet each of these figures is also particularised: there's the typist (perhaps) in her short skirt; the besuited city gent perusing the financial pages; the lipstick-painted lady in her new blue hat. And there's a nice exception to that adopted disengagement: a pretty young woman seated to the right of the picture communicates open-eyed at us, the viewer, and makes us a participant and an engaged fellow traveller.

Gicl‚e Print, Limited Edition (1/950) on 310 gsm thick, 100% cotton rag. Hand-numbered and hand-embossed.

    The Concerto limited edition print

    £148.00

In this print it is almost as if Power has transposed musical notes into pictograms - the musicians become the notes, the tiered stage the lines or staves. Perhaps this transposition is not so surprising since Power was a musician himself, and played proficiently both the piano and the violin.

Gicl‚e Print, Limited Edition (1/950) on 310 gsm thick, 100% cotton rag. Hand-numbered and hand-embossed.

The Relay Race limited edition print

    £148.00

The original image was printed from 2 blocks: venetian red and viridian but printed again, in reverse, using the same blocks but with orange and blue. Quite possibly this was limited to only one impression, but Power here manages to capture that instance in a relay race when one team is far enough ahead of the other as to seem, when viewed from the side, to be running in the opposite direction.

Giclée Print, Limited Edition (1/950) on 310 gsm thick, 100% cotton rag. Hand- numbered and hand-embossed.

    Playground limited edition print

    £265.00

    Limited Edition of 50

With an incredible eye for detail and colour, Tokyo-born Natsko Seki is our favourite new illustrator. Her delightful designs contain illustration, photography and collage and have wonderful hidden humour- each one combining personal elements in lively public settings.

Inspired by the age-old idea of the school playground, Natsko Seki's magical Playground set of prints will keep you entranced for hours. Including elements of the fantastical and the surreal (spot the children climbing an elephant, or riding giant birds!), her prints celebrate a child's imagination and freedom to play. The set of two prints look stunning side by side and feature variations only a beady eye will spot. Says Natsko of Playground:

"The kids are having a fun at the playground in the picture. Why not enjoy yourself too and try spotting the eight differences between the two!"

About the artist: Born in 1976, Natsko grew up in Tokyo, studied illustration in Brighton, and made her way to London where she now works on an increasing number of worldwide commissions.

Inspired by architecture and fashion from different ages and cultures, Natsko enjoys applying her friends and family members into her illustrations by collaging photos from her old family albums and her own photographs. She believes they are the crucial part of her practice; that her timeless illustrations become personal and have a meaning.

    Limited edition of 50.
Each of the two Playground prints measure 15.5 x 58cm (print dimensions) or 64 x 22cm (overall dimensions with white border) and are individually signed and numbered in pencil by the artist.

A3 London Map 2012 - limited edition print

    £120.00

With an incredible eye for detail and colour, Tokyo-born Natsko Seki is our favourite new illustrator. Her delightful designs contain illustration, photography and collage and have wonderful hidden humour- each one combining personal elements in lively public settings.

As her adopted home, London is a place very close to Natsko Seki's heart, and she has produced this beautiful and intricate design to celebrate the London 2012 Olympics. Alvailable exclusively at Tate Online shop and Tate Britain, the print features newcomers to the London skyline such as The Olympic Stadium and The Shard, as well as such enduring London icons as a routemaster bus, St Pauls Cathedral and Tate Modern.

Born in 1976, Natsko grew up in Tokyo, studied illustration in Brighton, and made her way to London where she now works on an increasing number of worldwide commissions.

Inspired by architecture and fashion from different ages and cultures, Natsko enjoys applying her friends and family members into her illustrations by collaging photos from her old family albums and her own photographs. She believes they are the crucial part of her practice; that her timeless illustrations become personal and have a meaning.

In The Trees limited edition print

    £110.00

A limited edition giclee print of Peter Lanyon's In The Trees.

The original of this original Peter Lanyon print (and its companion, Underground) was created in a studio above the Leach Pottery in St. Ives, Cornwall. Warren Mackenzie at the time was a visiting American student potter and worked on the print with Lanyon. The work is characteristic of Lanyon's approach to landscape painting - as John Berger writes of Lanyon's work "[he gathers] into one painting the sensation and vision of many separate viewpoints. He tilts the landscape up and looks at it from the air, he extends it sideways..." The white in the image - just as with the central black in the Underground print - is reminiscent of kanji (Japanese script) and may echo the influence that Japan had on Mackenzie's teacher, Bernard Leach.

    Print size: 24 x 25 cm;
Total paper size including border: 38 x 40cm
    Limited edition of 500.

    Embossed with seal of authenticity.
