Atmospheric limited edition print of Cyril Power's notable linocut Whence and Whither? (1930) originally printed from four blocks: Chinese Orange, Viridian, Permanent Blue and Dark Blue Printing Ink. Artwork depicts escalator at Tottenham Court Road Station, London. The Underground - a symbol of the new industrial age, is often portrayed by Power, and here rush-hour is depicted to great effect. It is perhaps no wonder that Power's first title for this print - as seen on some of the preparatory sketches for this work - was Cascade.
