Wash at 40C
Andy Tuohy, based in the Kent coastal town of Folkestone, produces contemporary artworks rooted in classic 20th century illustration and design.
Having studied and worked in Liverpool in the 1980¨s Andy was delighted to have the opportunity to return to the city, with his design partner Olivia, to work on a range for Tate.
The basis for the range is an A-Z of Liverpool and Merseyside, which was a real labour of love for Andy. Elements of the A to Z have been adapted and applied to other range items such as the mug and bag, which in turn have become designs in their own right. There have been many changes over the last few years in Liverpool so Andy and Olivia had to incorporate some of the more traditional landmarks, such as the Liver Birds, ferry and docklands, with more recent additions such as the shopping centre Liverpool ONE, the ubiquitous Superlambanana and the beautifully carved Chinese Arch. The A to Z also includes some lesser known nuggets of information such as the fact that Meccano originated in Liverpool and that Everton F.C.s nickname is derived from Everton Mints with their chewy toffee centres. The goalhas been to create a fun, informative, and decorative range that celebrates Liverpool and the Tate.
