Additional Information

Ad Minoliti has generously produced Biósfera Peluche, 2023, a limited edition artwork to celebrate 30 years of Tate St Ives in summer 2023. Minoliti has played an important part in Tate St Ives history. Their exhibition entitled Biósfera Peluche, produced by Baltic Centre of Contemporary Art, and re-presented at Tate St Ives, in 2022, displayed alternative universes influenced by feminist and queer thought. It featured their ongoing project, The Feminist School of Painting, transforming part of the gallery space into an active classroom.

Minoliti’s limited edition for Tate is connected to this recent body of work. Their installation reconstructed the gallery space as a vivid 'Earthship' environment, promoting inclusive values and ideas for society. Their limited edition also titled Biósfera Peluche, reveals an alternative universe, which includes the presence of a furry. These hybrid creatures represent earthbound, alien, or other identities and reference cartoons and contemporary subcultures popularized by the internet. Its presence suggests that all identities, orientations, and subcultures have equal agency within the space. Minoliti’s limited edition is a digital pigment print with screen-printed gloss black details. The screen printing was done by Printed by Us, a social enterprise in Sheffield, UK, that supports previously homeless and vulnerable adults through screen printing workshops and employment opportunities. All the profits from their work goes back into running more screen printing workshops and developing their project.

Each print is signed and numbered by the artist and comes unframed. Prices of the artwork are liable to change. As a limited edition sells out, prices of the artwork are subject to increase and the price will be clearly indicated.

Ad Minoliti (b. 1980, Buenos Aires, Argentina) draws on the rich legacy of geometric abstraction in Latin America. Minoliti merges ideas from modern art, ethics, science and subcultures in a reflection on modern worldmaking. Their work builds a nonbinary geometry and an alternative universe, a speculative pictorial fiction. This is the starting point for different experimental installations that encompass modernism, animalism, fetish, art education, childhood, architecture, queer feminism, science fiction, design and decoration. Minoliti considers themselves a painter but looks for a bigger concept of what the medium can be beyond technique: such as prints, clothes, videos, gifs and ambiences. Their work also engages with the organisation of cultural projects, for example, The Feminist School of Painting. Selected solo exhibitions include GG (Galactica Gatoteca), Peres Projects, Berlin, Germany, 2023; Forest geometries, Casa del Bicentenario Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2023; Biosfera Peluche, Tate St Ives, Cornwall, UK, 2022; Furry Tales, Casa Encendida, Madrid, Spain 2022; Biosfera Peluche, BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Newcastle, UK, 2021; Fantasias Modulares, MASS Moca, Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, US, 2020; Symposium for expanded painting and speculative fiction, Art Basel Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2018; The Feminist School of Painting, Kadist Foundation, San Francisco, US, 2018. Recent group exhibitions and projects; Body Poetic, GIANT Arts Centre, Bournemouth, UK, 2023; The Condition of Being Addressable, ICA Los Angeles, US, 2022; Mis-shapes, Tiger Strike Asteroid, New York, US, 2022. They live and work in Bueno Aires, Argentina.
