Alex Katz (born 1927) is an American artist best known for his large-scale paintings, sculptures and prints. His stylised paintings are a modern take on the classical themes of portraiture and landscapes, using flat colour and an economy of line. He has continued to work into his 90s, and is one of America’s most celebrated artists.
