Additional Information

David Batchelor has generously produced Chromoscreen 02, 2025, one of two limited edition artworks, especially for Tate.

Batchelor has honed a sensibility towards colour and composition over his career, spanning three decades and a variety of media including sculpture, painting, photography, printmaking, textiles and installation. This sensibility guides his arrangement of blocks of colour, whether spray-paint on paper in his Concrete Collage works, or screen-printed ink on paper in his Chromoscreen works for Tate. The arranging process is quick and energetic, but once settled, the blocks of colour are rendered still and harmonious. In his screen print editions, the ink is thick and glossy, resting on the surface of the paper. Tiny air bubbles that have been fixed in the printing process are similar to the pockets of air commonly found in concrete, a material which Batchelor often employs in his sculptural work. For example, in his Concreto-Concreto series, stacks of two, three, or four concrete building blocks are spray-painted in thoughtfully composed palettes.

Each print is signed and numbered on the front by the artist. Prices of the artwork are liable to change. As a limited edition sells out, prices of the artwork are subject to increase and the price will be clearly indicated.
