Additional Information

This limited edition is available for pre-order and will be despatched from Monday 22 June 2026.

Julio Le Parc generously produced two limited edition screen prints to coincide with the exhibition, Julio Le Parc: Light. Colour. Action. at Tate Modern, 11 June 2026 – 3 May 2027.

Created especially for Tate, this screen print revisits Thème 90, 2025, an acrylic painting on canvas exploring colour progression. Since 1959, Le Parc embarked on a systematic study of colour, developing a palette of fourteen hues from across the spectrum, which he always used pure (not cut with black or white) and often all together in the same work. Le Parc explained in 1970 ‘the fourteen colours, while limited, seemed to me to be able to summarise all of the potential variations of chromatic mixes.’ Le Parc took great delight in imagining all of these variations sequentially, with each combination of colour a specific moment that lingered in his mind amid all this movement of perpetually changing colours.

By revisiting a painting that explores colour progression as a print edition, this project is part of a timely reflection on Le Parc’s visionary work in an immersive solo exhibition at Tate Modern.

Due to the artist’s health condition at the time of finishing the edition, the prints are not signed by the artist but are each stamp-signed and editioned by Atelier Le Parc. Each artwork is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity which is signed by Yamil Le Parc.

Prices of the artwork are liable to change. As a limited edition sells out, prices of the artwork are subject to increase and the price will be clearly indicated.

Julio Le Parc (1928–2026, b. Mendoza, Argentina) was best known for his pioneering kinetic sculptures, which use light, movement and mirrored surfaces to surprise and draw in the viewer. Le Parc wanted to make viewers feel active, with their acts of looking and experiencing bringing each artwork to life, and to make more democratic art that everyone can easily enjoy.

Le Parc moved to France in 1958, where he settled. He was part of the vibrant artistic scene of 1960s Paris, a time of radical innovation and boundless creativity, but always maintained strong connections to Latin America. His story offers a fascinating insight into the evolving practice of an artist who, like his work, keeps surprising us and never stands still.
