Additional Information

The third book of Alex Wilmore’s tales of forest creatures is a brilliantly funny story for children about what can happen when we forget to think of others and get carried away with our hobbies...

Squirrel loves to collect things around the forest. She really has the eye for it! But when she starts to take the other animals’ possessions, the mood turns sour and the others aren’t very happy.

As Squirrel’s collection grows and grows, her very favourite thing, her special acorn, is in danger of getting lost in all the mess. Will the other animals be able to help?

A fun tale about the importance of learning how to share and respecting other people’s things, sure to appeal to fans of The Big Trip and The Great Paint.

Alex Wilmore is an author and best-selling children’s book illustrator. Alex has been drawing characters since he could first hold a pencil, bringing each to life with a sense of mischief and fun. After studying Illustration for Children’s Publishing at the North Wales School of Art and Design, he went on to illustrate The Runaway Pea, which was selected for the BookTrust’s 2020 Time to Read Campaign. Alex has won the 2020 Shrewsbury Book Fest award and The FCBG 2020 award for his illustrations in The Runaway Pea, as well as being nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal and made a finalist in the 2020 Oscar’s Book Prize. A love of storytelling and growing up on 80s cartoons lead Alex to write his own books, which combine captivating characters and quirky exploits, along with a positive moral message. The Very Special Thing is his third book for Tate, after The Big Trip and The Great Paint.
