Bronze Menged table runner

This bronze cotton table runner is the woven centrepiece your dinner table décor has been waiting for.

Crafted using traditional Ethiopian weaving techniques by Sabahar, the 100% cotton is detailed with their ‘Menged’ pattern design. Menged is an Amharic word meaning ‘road’, and the white lines that make up the design represent the many ways one can travel to a destination. These lines are created by artisan weavers handpicking the warp and weft to contrast with the block colour of the runner – as each runner is made by hand, each pattern is subtly different.

Finished with hand-tied fringes, the runner is an impactful and stylish alternative to a tablecloth. To keep it looking its best, we recommend washing by hand, line drying and cool ironing.

Sabahar was founded by Kathy Marshall, at home in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2004. Committed to sustainable, responsible and transparent production, their work ensures that handweaving and spinning professions are preserved and respected, and also that these traditional skills are strengthened and diversified to help them to stay relevant for generations to come. They employ innovative eco-friendly manufacturing practices such as using bio-gas to produce fuel for their dyeing department, heat water using solar power, repurpose textile waste, and treat and recycle the water discharge from the dyeing process.
