David Bomberg water bottle

A detail from David Bomberg’s striking painting The Mud Bath, 1914 wraps around this leak-proof reusable water bottle from Chilly’s and Tate. Holding 500ml of liquid, it’s one of Chilly’s Series 2 bottles, with a soft-touch, anti-microbial drinking collar, non-slip rubber base, and a matching red silicone carry loop on the lid.

The water bottle is part of our range created with reusable bottle specialists Chilly’s, which combines details from Tate collection artworks with Chilly’s practical, eco-conscious designs. This one showcases Bomberg’s red, blue and white vorticists imagery, and keeps your drinks cold for 24 hours, or hot for 12 hours.

The bottle’s double-walled vacuum design means that whilst the contents will keep either cold or hot, the outside will remain at room temperature.

For best results, clean the bottle after use with hot soapy water, but don’t leave to soak. For a very thorough clean, we’d recommend bicarbonate soda with water. When not in use, store without the cap on.

About the artist

David Bomberg (1890 – 1957) was said to be the most audacious painter of his generation at the Slade. His treatment of the human figure, in terms of angular, clear-cut forms charged with enormous energy, reveals his determination to bring about a drastic renewal in British painting. With the advent of World War I, everything changed dramatically and his harrowing experiences at the Front brought about a profound transformation in his outlook.

Chilly’s is a British company, whose mission is to reduce reliance on single use items. Founded in 2010 by James Butterfield and Tim Bouscarle, they continue to looks for ways to reduce single use plastic, and now operate a recycling system for their bottles.
