Created in collaboration with Tate, this is Guerrilla Girls first neon light. Using humour, activism and the arts to fight discrimination, their artworks often take the form of posters or billboards, making this neon light an excellent new medium to spread awareness of their important message.
The artwork chosen for the neon light wall art piece is based on their 2018 interactive art project, Women Get Resentful. Installed at Art Basel Hong Kong 2018, the installation asked people to perform a gender count as they walked around the fair, and then post their findings and comments on the display. Statistics from the Art Basel Hong Kong Fair 2017 were included in the display, such as ‘37% of galleries showed 0 women artists. 29% showed only 1’.
Using a detail from the lead image of the installation, the 124 x 94 cm neon features the words ‘If you keep women out they get Resentful’ illuminated in energy efficient neon flex, over a UV print of the spiral-eyed gorilla mask. The yellow spirals of the eyes are also lit up with a combination of rage and led tubing.
Each sign is hand-assembled, and made in small batches from high quality neon flex mounted to a clear recycled acrylic board, printed with the artwork gorilla mask image. This neon flex is made from PVC piping with LED lights inside, which is 80% more energy efficient than traditional neon signs whilst delivering the same intense colours.
The neon wall art comes with a dimmer, UK plug, a 3 metre transparent cable, and an installation kit. The installation kit contains enough specialist screws or 3M adhesive strips for you to easily affix your sign to your wall. For peace of mind, the signs are insured during transport, and come with a 1 year guarantee.
About the artist
Formed in 1985, Guerrilla Girls are an anonymous activist group who highlight discrimination in the art world. Their targets include artists, gallerists and cultural institutions, and over the years their attacks on sexism have widened to other areas of social, racial and gender-based inequality.
About Yellowpop
To make our neon wall art, we partner with Yellowpop, a custom neon LED sign company, who believe in the powerfully uplifting effects of light. Limited editions

Rugs
Rugs are dispatched directly from the Christopher Farr workshop, so they will arrive separately from any other items ordered from Tate Shop.

As each item of furniture is made to order, delivery takes 12-14 weeks, and will arrive separately to any other items in your Tate Shop order.
Food & Wine
Our collection of food and wine is only available for delivery in the UK. We currently offer free delivery on wine orders over £100, using a specialist white glove service within the M25 area.
Wine: UK only – £20 per order
Please note that our wines can only be purchased by those aged 18 years and over. Customers will be asked to provide proof of age upon delivery.

Refunds & returns
Please contact our customer service team within 45 days if you need to return anything from your order. We will be happy to offer you a full refund, replacement or exchange on any items excluding custom prints, Goldfinger + Tate furniture, face coverings and pierced earrings. We cannot cover the cost of returning the items, unless we've made a mistake or they are faulty.
