Ithell Colquhoun drawing ink set

Ithell Colquhoun used drawing inks in a variety of ways in her artworks, and this set of drawing inks includes everything you need to experiment with her methods yourself. The set includes six bottles of ink, a pen and interchangeable nibs, and a paper pad developed for inks.

Featuring a detail from Colquhoun’s Untitled (Sardine and Eggs), the back of the box has a QR code that you can scan to access a guide to some of the artist’s techniques and how to try them yourself.

The set contains:

6 Winsor & Newton drawing inks in canary yellow, orange, scarlet, violet, blue and black Indian ink.

A wooden pen handle and 5 metal nibs in a variety of thicknesses

An A5 pad of 20 sheets of smooth Bristol paper

About the artist

Ithell Colquhoun (1906 – 1988) was a British artist, poet, author and occultist. A member of the British Surrealist Group for a time, she studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, exhibited with the London Group and created works and techniques exploring ‘psychomorphologies’ – attempts to capture psychic space in painting. She was eventually expelled from the Surrealist Group after refusing to renounce occultism, a subject she became a recognised authority on.
