Additional Information
The tea towel is made from 100% certified organic cotton ringspun fabric, printed using authentic table hand screens and pigment dyes. The factory we’ve partnered with to manufacture the textiles used for our Kangan Arora x Tate collection is based in Faridabad, Northern India and is GOTS, OCS + OEKOTEX certified. All processes (stitching, printing, washing, finishing) happen in-house and they use rain water harvesting, water recycling and LED lights to save on power and energy. They also have solar panels installed enabling them to generate a third of their power consumption from renewable sources.
The packaging material for the pouch is made from butter paper to reduce plastic waste ¬– this ensures the textiles are protected and that the packaging is also compostable.
About the designer
Kangan Arora is a designer specialising in print and pattern design, working across interiors, textiles, branding and packaging. Based in South London, her work is driven by a love of colour, geometry and visual storytelling. With a signature style that takes assimilated shapes and unexpected juxtapositions, she brings them to life through screen-printing, hand weaving, embroidery and quilting. Kangan trained at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design where she is currently a Lecturer in Textile and Jewellery Design. Using abstract architectural details from our London galleries as her inspiration, Kangan Arora has reinterpreted Tate Britain’s iconic scallop patterned rotunda in her design for this glorious Tate inspired tea towel. Its overlapping colours give it an Op-Art feel, blending a touch of Tate Modern into the design.
