Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential artists of the twentieth- century. Born in Spain, Picasso began his artistic career in Barcelona before settling in Paris in 1904. He worked in an unprecedented variety of styles and is recognised as a painter, sculptor, etcher, lithographer, ceramist and designer.
