Item details
Cushion with fibre filled inner pad featuring Anatoli Petritsky’s revolutionary propaganda poster The Pans Destroy – The Proletariat Creates 1920, created to coincide with Tate Modern’s Red Star Over Russia exhibition.

Anatoly Galaktionovich Petritsky (1895 – 1964) was a painter, graphic designer, art theorist and an important member of the Ukrainian avant-garde during the 1920s. Moving to Moscow in the 1920s, he created many revolutionary propaganda posters. This image shows the ‘Red Man’ of socialism engaged in meaningful industry, creating railway structures, whilst monstrous Imperialist figures emerge to try and destroy the fruits of this labour.

Handmade in UK. Machine washable (please check care label prior to washing).
