Description
Mini print of William Blake’s illustration The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, 1827.

In The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, 1790-93, Blake followed Dante and Milton and wrote of a visit to Hell. Blake’s Hell was not as depicted by conventional Christianity, and instead it is a place of unbound energy. Heaven is described as a place of conformity and control. The Marriage explores the idea that both are necessary contraries within us all.

William Blake (1757 – 1827) was an English poet and artist. Blake trained as an engraver and had a career in etching, engraving and illustration. His watercolours were exhibited at the Royal Academy, but from 1780 he railed against academic art, insisting instead on individual inspiration. Although he received little public recognition in his lifetime, he has since been hailed as one of Britain’s greatest artists.

All our mini prints measure 35.6 x 28 cm and include a white border with full artwork credit line.

Our mini prints are produced on 250 gsm matt art paper using a four colour flat-bed digital printer. We work with only UK based PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forestry Certification) and FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified suppliers for our print products.
