Hale-Bopp is a comet, known as ‘the great comet of 1997’ because of its brightness. It was visible to the naked eye for a record-breaking 18 months from April 1997. Tillman’s photograph is part of his installation if one thing matters, everything matters,1995-97.

About the artist
Wolfgang Tillmans (b. 1968, Remscheid, Germany) is a photographer. He studied at the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art from 1990–92, before settling in London. His subjects range from intimate still-lives to portraits of friends and celebrities, referring often explicitly to his involvement with political issues such as homelessness, racism and gay rights. He exhibits his images in carefully constructed wall montages, mixing ink-jet prints with photographs and pages taken from the magazines. His styles encompass portraiture, documentary, still- life, landscape and more recently, a unique form of abstraction created by manipulating light on photographic paper. Tillmans was awarded the Turner Prize in 2000.

We aim to deliver stocked shop products within:

International – 2-4 weeks
For made-to-order items, including framed custom prints, furniture, lighting and rugs, we aim to deliver within:
UK – 1-2 weeks
International – 2-4 weeks
Please note that some items are dispatched separately if they are made to order (such as coffee, custom prints and custom print clothing, neon lights or furniture). This means that if you order these items alongside other shop products, they won’t all arrive together, and you’ll get several deliveries.
If the delivery time frame for each item has ended and you’re still waiting for something from your order, please get in touch and we’ll investigate for you.Delivery costs
We currently offer free standard delivery on UK orders over £60. Please note that this is offer is valid only online. Our other delivery costs are as follows.
For orders under £60:
UK – £3.60 per order
European Union – £15 per order
Rest of world (including non-EU European countries) – £28 per order
Limited editions
Due to the nature of our Limited Edition artworks, Tate offers rates for packaging materials to sufficiently protect the works and a fully insured, door-to-door courier service, for both UK and international shipping.
Rugs
Rugs are dispatched directly from the Christopher Farr workshop, so they will arrive separately from any other items ordered from Tate Shop.

Goldfinger + Tate furniture
As each item of furniture is made to order, delivery takes 12-14 weeks, and will arrive separately to any other items in your Tate Shop order.
Food & Wine
Our collection of food and wine is only available for delivery in the UK. We currently offer free delivery on wine orders over £100, using a specialist white glove service within the M25 area.
Wine: UK only – £20 per order
Please note that our wines can only be purchased by those aged 18 years and over. Customers will be asked to provide proof of age upon delivery.

Refunds & returns
Please contact our customer service team within 45 days if you need to return anything from your order. We will be happy to offer you a full refund, replacement or exchange on any items excluding custom prints, Goldfinger + Tate furniture, face coverings and pierced earrings. We cannot cover the cost of returning the items, unless we've made a mistake or they are faulty.
