Additional Information

Bold and bright, this washable face covering features the yellow Dutch wax print-inspired aeroplane design, created by artist Yinka Shonibare in an exclusive collaboration with Tate. Designed to celebrate the display of Shonibare’s incredible installation, The British Library, 2014, the fabric print is used here on this 100% organic cotton washable mask.

Turner prize nominee and fourth plinth artist Yinka Shonibare CBE (b.1962) is a British-Nigerian artist working across the mediums of sculpture, painting, photography and film. His piece The British Library, 2014, is an installation of 6,328 hardback books individually covered in colourful ‘Dutch wax print’ fabric. On a selection of books, the names of first and second-generation immigrants both celebrated and lesser-known, and names of those who have helped or hindered the plight of immigrants are printed on the spines in gold leaf.
