This photographic artwork is from the artist’s series The Strangers Notebook, 2016. In the series, Petro documents his journey from Nigeria, to Morocco, to Europe over the course of a year. In each of the images, unknown figures hold mirrors up to empty coastlines, obscuring their own faces.
Part of our collection of photography prints celebrating the World in Common exhibition at Tate Modern, the poster measures 50 x 70 cm, which includes the artwork image and a white border around the piece. Under the artwork image, the title of the exhibition and the artwork credit line are printed in black.
The poster is printed on responsibly sourced, FSC certified paper.
About the artist
Dawit L. Petros (born 1972) is an artist, researcher and educator. Born in Eritrea, he grew up in Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Kenya and is now based in central Canada. Having studied art, photography and history at several institutions in the US and Canada, his work is informed by studies of global modernisms, theories of diaspora, postcolonial studies and his lived experience as a migrant. He works in photography, installation, film, sculptural objects and sound, thoughtfully examining cross-border flows, and the idea of physical and ideological borders.

We aim to deliver stocked shop products within:

International – 2-4 weeks
For made-to-order items, including framed custom prints, furniture, lighting and rugs, we aim to deliver within:
UK – 1-2 weeks
International – 2-4 weeks
Please note that some items are dispatched separately if they are made to order (such as coffee, custom prints and custom print clothing, neon lights or furniture). This means that if you order these items alongside other shop products, they won’t all arrive together, and you’ll get several deliveries.

We currently offer free standard delivery on UK orders over £60. Please note that this is offer is valid only online. Our other delivery costs are as follows.
For orders under £60:
UK – £3.60 per order
European Union – £15 per order
Rest of world (including non-EU European countries) – £28 per order
Limited editions
Due to the nature of our Limited Edition artworks, Tate offers rates for packaging materials to sufficiently protect the works and a fully insured, door-to-door courier service, for both UK and international shipping.
Rugs
Rugs are dispatched directly from the Christopher Farr workshop, so they will arrive separately from any other items ordered from Tate Shop.

Goldfinger + Tate furniture
As each item of furniture is made to order, delivery takes 12-14 weeks, and will arrive separately to any other items in your Tate Shop order.
Food & Wine
Our collection of food and wine is only available for delivery in the UK. We currently offer free delivery on wine orders over £100, using a specialist white glove service within the M25 area.
Wine: UK only – £20 per order
Please note that our wines can only be purchased by those aged 18 years and over. Customers will be asked to provide proof of age upon delivery.

Refunds & returns
Please contact our customer service team within 45 days if you need to return anything from your order. We will be happy to offer you a full refund, replacement or exchange on any items excluding custom prints, Goldfinger + Tate furniture, face coverings and pierced earrings. We cannot cover the cost of returning the items, unless we've made a mistake or they are faulty.
