Additional Information

The first in the One to Sixteen 1:16 series, this paper kit will let you make your own miniature version of the Sussex armchair by Morris & co, c.1860.

The pop-out pieces are laser-cut and ready to assemble, with instructions, an information leaflet on the original chair design, and a paper interior scene to stand your chair in.

We’ve chosen the paper Sussex armchair kit as part of our shop collection in honour of Tate Britain’s Sarah Lucas: Happy Gas exhibition. Chairs have a central role in the show, as Lucas herself explains: ‘I decided to hang the exhibition mainly on chairs. Much in the same way that I hang sculptures onto chairs’.

Whether you make a miniature soft sculpture to hang on your tiny William Morris chair, or just enjoy the chair and diorama, get some paper glue and you’ll be ready to recreate a landmark moment in furniture design history, in miniature.

Designed by Tomoko Azumi and her East London-based TNA Design Studio, the One to Sixteen collection of tiny paper chairs came by blending Azumi’s enthusiasm for diorama and furniture design. All the chairs in the One to Sixteen series represent key moments in interior design history, and at 1:16 scale in paper, can be created and enjoyed by anyone. They’re manufactured by Fukunaga Shiko, a paper manufacturer and printer based in Japan, whose mission is to promote ‘the joy of paper’ through high quality, design oriented paper products.

Delivery times

We aim to deliver stocked shop products within:

  • UK – 2-3 working days
  • International (excluding EU) – 2-4 weeks

For framed custom prints and rugs, we aim to deliver within:

  • UK – 1-2 weeks
  • International (excluding EU) – 2-4 weeks

Many of our neon lights are made in small batches, delivery is estimated at 4-6 weeks worldwide. Our Goldfinger x Tate furniture collection is made to order, with a production lead time of 12-14 weeks.

Please note that some items are dispatched separately if they are made to order (such as coffee, custom prints and custom print clothing, neon lights or furniture). This means that if you order these items alongside other shop products, they won’t all arrive together, and you’ll get several deliveries.

If the delivery time frame for each item has ended and you’re still waiting for something from your order, please get in touch and we’ll investigate for you.

We currently offer free standard delivery on UK orders over £60. Our other delivery costs are as follows.

For orders under £60:

UK – £5 per order

Rest of world ((excluding EU) – £28 per order
