Heron’s long association with Cornwall began during childhood when his family would visit the coastline. They lived there for a short time during Heron’s early years before moving to Welwyn Garden City.

Patrick Heron (1920-1999) is widely recognised as one of the most innovative figures in twentieth-century British art. He worked as a painter, critic and polemicist throughout his life and played a major role in the development of post-war abstract art.
