The large house that the title refers to, depicted in simple geometric forms in the centre of the work, belonged to Kinley’s friend Charles Ewart, in Wiltshire. Kinley painted this in his Wiltshire studio, one of a series that he created to try and express his experience of living in the countryside – a new experience in itself for the artist.
